Illustration and Visual Narrative - Final Compilation & Reflection

[Final Reflection]
Experience: IVN was one of my favorite modules this semester because the assignments we got to do were all so unique and new to me. I got to learn a great deal about storytelling and animating. It was also really fun to design characters, and I experimented with my art styles. The only difficult part was that all the classes were online, so we never got a chance to meet any of the teachers' face-to-face feedback sessions. Nonetheless, I learned a lot in IVN and was happy with the work I could produce. Ms. Anis and Mr. Faizal were a lot of fun to learn from, especially Mr. Faizal's stories about working as a designer and what would be expected of us when we start working. The stories were always insightful and gave us an idea of the field we are pursuing.
Observation: In this module, I learned a lot about how we can inspire other artists to help us grow and learn. Of course, it is important to understand the line between taking inspiration and plagiarising. We learned to do a lot of research when designing use those research to combine into our work. Always have several sketches so you can see what works and what can be improved.
Findings: One very important thing I learned from IVN was how important research is when designing. It is always good to create a mood board and look at works from other artists to understand what you are comfortable with and experiment with a different style. Another thing is to always write down notes either on the image or on another piece of paper, so when you are presenting your work, the viewer understands where the inspiration came from. These are some useful things I learned from IVN that would help me in my journey as a designer.
