Video & Sound Production - Project 2

Week 1: Inspiration
Fig.1.0 Printing pets
The first video I picked was the printing pet video, and it's a very short clip but a great trick. This was one of the first videos I had watched of Zack King when he started making the video, and I remember this video to this day because of how fun the video concept was. Since I have a cat, I think it would be fun to try it out with my cat.

The second video is a trick with perspective. It's another simple trick and doesn't require too many elements. Again, this video looked very simple to do. That's why I choose it.
Fig.1.2 Watercolor painting
The last video I choose because combines painting and magic tricks. For this trick, I think the sound plays an important role in making the illusion believable.

Reflection
Experience: Project 2 was both enjoyable and challenging. It was entertaining because we grew up watching Zach King videos, and being able to perform the trick ourselves was thrilling; nevertheless, the time constraint made it difficult. In addition, we have several assignments and projects to complete as we approach the end of the semester, not just for video and sound production but also for our other modules. As a result, completing our work was a real challenge. Unfortunately, the quality of my video isn't the best, but I'm happy with the overall result.
Observations: I found that sound played an important role in making the tricks convincing in this project. While viewing Zach King's videos, I noted how he attempts to keep the background noises and music to a minimum. Instead, he focuses on precisely timing the sound required for the trick.
Findings: I learned the hard way that making a video clip with noise/grains appear good is difficult no matter what effect you apply. As a result, it's critical to use a good HD camera and appropriate lighting when filming. This is something I need to remember for all of my other projects.
