Feedback

[Week 1]
  • Literature review: Make sure to highlight or combine sections that have similar keywords.
  • Add keywords
  • You can use the thesis paper as long as it's relevant to your topic.
  • Table of content: I think under section 2.1 you can add more subheadings.
  • Start writing for section 2.
[Week 2]
  • Double-check the in-text citation of the BAKAN & BAKAN.

  • Change the subheading of JAPAN & the USA. Try to be more specific on what this section is about.

  • The content seems very brief try to do more research and add more.

  • Maybe try adding a statement about how sexualization in video games has fluctuated due to the generation changed or change in demand.

  • Try to make the literature review section at least 800-1200 words.

[Week 3]
  • The survey is considered a quantitative method, you can say it has some qualitative open-ended questions.

  • The references for the methodology should be from articles instead of websites, try to look in past literature papers.

  • The hypothesis is written in section 1 and then again in the discussion section.

[Week 5]
  • The title for the section can be changed to ‘Research Findings, instead of Results/Findings.

  • When referring to other parts of your dissertation such as your literature review say “As described in the section …..”

[Week 6]
  • Pay attention to the grammar and the punctuation.

  • Label the images and tables according to the section they are in.

[Week 7]

  • In section 5.0 list down what you will be talking about, and always refer to or ‘according to other sections.

  • For the conclusion discuss sections 1-5, summarise them. It is not the same as repeating section 4.

Reflection

[Week 1]

First, we were given a lot of information about the module and also on the tasks that we had to do so it was a bit overwhelming. However, Dr. Hayati took her time explaining everything and repeated any parts that we were confused about, which made the tasks much easier.

[Week 2]

I had a lot of writing to do this week, and I had some trouble arranging my information because I tried to organize my literature review according to my research questions. This confused me, so I opted to remove that part and instead utilize the keywords as Dr. Hayati suggested. While writing, I also recognized that some aspects of my literature reviews were lacking.  So I wish to continue researching to strengthen my paper further.

[Week 3]

This week, I was a little behind schedule because I needed to add more information to the literature review and begin my research methodology. So I decided to finish my methodology first, then return to my literature review. Fortunately, I had already written a complete explanation of why I chose the various techniques and instruments in my research implementation, so I was able to place everything into the appropriate subheadings for the dissertation papers. I still had a lot of sections to write, but this made it a lot easier.

[Week 4]

Having two weeks to complete the two sections was helpful because I had a lot of methodologies to incorporate into the dissertation. As the results were already organized when we completed our final report, writing this portion was considerably easier.

[Week 5]

Upon completing the results section I moved on to the discussion section. Even though I missed class last week and was unable to get feedback, I tried to complete my work so that I didn’t get behind on my writing. In this section, I tried referring back to my literature review to give better reasons for the result I was able to obtain.

[Week 6]

This week, after finishing the discussion section, I began writing my abstract, followed by my conclusion. While writing my conclusion, I found that I had written some of my discussion sections incorrectly. That is why I reread the discussion section and corrected the errors. However, I was unsure how to write the conclusion section because I felt it was identical to the discussion section and that I was simply repeating myself.

[Week 7]

This week, we finished our papers and began proofreading them in preparation for submission. After rereading my work, I discovered how much it lacked in sections 2 and 5. That's why I chose to add more information and reorganize some sections to make it easier for people to understand. Finally, I had to request an extension because I really wanted to do well on the paper but knew I wouldn't be able to finish in the allotted time.
