Project 2

Week 10:

This week, I decided to focus on the exterior of the land vehicle before working on the interior. I took some of the details from project one and expanded on them to give the vehicle more personality. For example, I decided to make the vehicle a mode of transportation as well as a store, so I included elements for a small market area with tables and shelves.

I also looked at patterns in Yurt tents and decided to incorporate a few into my design. Similar to my character design, I want to keep the lighting very traditional, so I went with lanterns to decorate the vehicle.

Week 11:

I moved on to work on my interior after receiving feedback on my exterior. I began by imagining what the interior would look like. I looked at a lot of yurt designs for ideas because that's the part of the vehicle I wanted to illustrate.

I started with a rough sketch of the overall interior and how my floors will be divided. I decide to make the bottom floor the kitchen/sitting area as it is more functional to have it on the bottom floor. Then I thought to add a bedroom to the second floor to keep it separate from the shop are downstairs.  Finally, I decided to include a storage area because if this vehicle serves as both a transportation and a store, I'd need a place to keep its inventories. The floors are accessible by a spiral staircase in the vehicle's center.

From there, I decided what I would add to the bedroom, which consisted mostly of commonplace items such as a bed and closets, and I decided against adding a chair to the sitting area because nomads typically have a floor seating area instead.

Feedback

[Week 10]:
  • It looks good, just make the logs different sizes some big some smaller, then offset a few things to make it look more aesthetic.
  • The wheels are wooden so make it less smooth.
  • The parts that are draping need to have more curves.
  • For the color do the base color first then the patterns.
[Week 12]:
  • You need to have a story behind the vehicle, What makes it so special?.
  • Make it less organized.
  • You can continue working on Zbrush instead of drawing.
  • Your props can be pottery.
[Week 13]:
  • Add grey to the full interior (just on the outside for presentation)
  • Add multiple to the interior drawing
  • the pots are a bit flat.

Reflection

I enjoyed doing this project more because I decorated the room how I liked it. Unfortunately, this project did have less time, so I was in a rush, but I am glad I could illustrate what I had envisioned for my room. If I had more time, I would like to design the other vehicle floors to see what I could come up with. Overall I am really happy with my outcome.
