[Sketches]
With the first sketch, I just tried drawing myself in the same style as the reference picture, just to get a feel of what styles I might want to do.

Fig.1.3 Sketch 2
Rationale: The second sketch is called mind printing. Sometimes I have this great design in my head but when I draw it out it does not look anything like it. I wish I could just print what I was imaging in my head on paper that way I won’t have to spend hours drawing and coloring. Here I would be sitting while the image is beginning printed but I would be looking at the camera towards the viewer giving a cheeky smile. Almost to say I am cheating because instead of drawing it I am printing from my mind.
Fig.1.4 Sketch 3 Rationale: For my third sketch it’s about changing faces. I am a twin so growing up my sister and I use to switch classes and take exams for each other or if we didn’t want to do something the other one would go and do it. It was something we did often and we never got caught. Unfortunately, now we don’t look that similar so we can’t really switch places so if I was a cyborg I would like to change my face to someone else to get away from not doing something. |

Fig.1.5 Photo of me When taking the picture I tried to find a location with good lighting and background to be simple. As my story was me changing my face I tried to pose as if I were to be holding my face in my hand. In movies, the cyborg characters are usually dressed in black and since I thought the color of the clothes would be less distracting I wore a high neck blacktop. |

After taking the picture I realized instead of following my original sketch (Fig.1.4) where I remove the whole face, I instead decided to only do half a face. I drew up another sketch where the lower half of my face is removed and I am holding it in my hand. The eyes are now black with a glowing effect. |
[Progress]
Fig.1 Progress
I started by cutting out the lower proportion of my face using the lasso tool and then moving it near my hand to give the illusion of me holding it.

Fig.1.2 Progress Next, I added drew shadow using the brush tool near the fingers and added the blending mode bevel & emboss. |

Fig.1.3 Progress
Then I once again used the brush tool to color my eyes black then used a softer brush to color in the pupils with a blue color. This gave the effect of glowing robot eyes.
Fig.1.4 Progress
After I was done with the face I started drawing out all the design using the pen tool. Following what Mr. Martin taught us during class I applied stroke path and then the blending mode of bevel & emboss. I had to play around with the angle and opacity to make it look more realistic.

Fig.1.5 Progress
I found these two images on google of a cyborg face and hand that I masked out and used on my own face. I even cut out some parts of the fingers

Fig.2.1 Progress
After showing my work to Mr. Martin and getting his feedback, I wanted to make the hand a bit more simple, as I felt there were too many things happening on the design and it was taking the emphasis away from the mask. So I chose a different picture for the hand and removed the designs on the fingers. As the color of the new cyborg hand was different I had to color match with the face image. Then I applied the inner shadow effect on the image. Lastly, I added a black radial gradient around the edges of the image and one more behind my head. For the gradient behind my head, I applied a blue color but it was very strong and didn't go well with the picture so I applied overlay as blending mode.

[Feedback]
[Week 11]: Mr. Martin liked my work and suggested I refine the details, he agreed that I could make the hand design simpler.
